As the European heatwave saps all my energy, I’m grateful that I’ve surrounded myself with plants in my tiny home. Yes, they take up space, but greenery is precious to me and it offers some relief and nature inside as the thermometer keeps on climbing. How do you bring the outdoors inside to comfort you?

If you’d like to cut back meat consumption, but you’re worried about getting enough protein, this one’s for you. In Want to build muscle? Eat more plants, NPR health correspondent Will Stone discusses recent scientific findings that show plant protein is just as effective at building muscle. He also shares advice on getting good quality protein as part of a well balanced diet.

In Is Perfectionism Just Procrastination in Disguise? video creator Jon Youshaei suggests we take our cue from Mozart, Edison and Monet. He argues that the key to creative success is being prolific, like them. Through experimenting without fear of failure, quantity ultimately leads to quality and eureka moments. So don’t let perfectionism hold you back - get your work out there in the world!

I’ve written before about saying goodbye to old dreams, after realising that I’d outgrown the career I’d once yearned for. I recently came across ’ essay You Haven't Lost Your Passion. You've Outgrown It. which really resonated (I found it via his wonderful podcast, Good Life Project). Jonathan articulates so well the unsettling tension I felt even as I listened to my gut feelings. But discomfort is often a signal that we’re ready for new adventures. We just have to follow our intuition!

In Saturday’s post (the final week of June Rejuvenation), I wrote about slowing down, pausing, and savouring, through meandering, meditation, mindful movement, and mindfulness in daily life. You can read the full post here:
Some questions you could reflect on:
What does rejuvenation mean to you?
When are you at your most mindful?
Which simple mindfulness practice(s) will you try today? This week?
What support do you need from yourself, or others, to build your zen?
Where do you need a permission slip to help your rejuvenation?
Do
Flow with the weather. I’m a big fan of seasonal living, adjusting my routine and priorities depending on the time of year. But as we’re mid-heatwave in Europe, it’s been brought home to me how important it is to respond to the weather especially. I normally find summer sun and long evenings energising and end up doing extra gym classes. But not this week! As I melt among my unpacking, exercise is the last thing on my mind, and that’s okay!! Instead, I’m reading, meditating and drinking loads of water. I hope you’re all doing well with whatever weather you’re facing.

I've changed my usual routine of running and weights to walking and swimming in this heat, Holly. And am waking up and going to bed earlier.
