Wellbeing Wednesday #45
Bitesized options for brightening up your hump day
Inspire
“Meditation practice isn’t about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It’s about befriending who we are already.”
– Pema Chodron
Hi, I’m Holly, a certified coach and Breathworks mindfulness facilitator. I’m here to help you lead a life full of zest, zen, and purpose. Come join the supportive Zestful Zen community. ✨
Look
Every day, this batik greets me or says farewell as I move through my hallway. As I pass by, it brings me joy. For its own beauty. For imaginings of the craft that went into creating it. For reminiscences of my time spent in Zimbabwe as a teenage volunteer. There’s something about textiles that I adore. I’ll never stop collecting them, even though I’m back in a teeny flat again! Which keepsakes keep giving you joy?
Listen
shares another beautiful Slow Sunday Letter, this time on The Joy of Creating, For You... It’s a lovely read, but I’d recommend listening to the voiceover for a gentle exploration of “creating simply for the pleasure of it - for no audience, no end goal, just the delight of connecting with that most intuitive, creative part of ourselves.”

For years, clinical psychologist David H. Rosmarin tried to help people eradicate anxiety, until he realised the positive role anxiety can play in our lives. In How to Make Anxiety Your Friend, he shares four practical steps to transform anxiety from an enemy into an ally: identify, share, embrace and let go.

Read
I think a lot of women in my generation were raised to suppress our emotions, especially those seen as less “socially acceptable”. Claire Fitzsimmons’ exploration, 25 things I didn't know about my emotions until I hit midlife, really resonated, as she encourages us to embrace our full spectrum of emotions without worry.
Ask
In Saturday’s post, I wrote about finding and following creative inspiration, even when it takes you to places you hadn’t expected. You can read the full post here:
Some questions you could reflect on:
How can you curate your environment to support you?
Where do your creative juices want to flow today? Are you listening to that voice?
Who, or what, gives you creative inspiration?
What’s something creative you could do, right now, just for fun?
Do
Savour a smile. Think back over your past week. What made you smile, even if only for a moment? Perhaps something funny you observed while out and about. Or a moment of kindness, when a stranger held a door open. Maybe a beloved pet snoozing contentedly. Whatever it was, savour the memory of that smile and notice how it makes you feel now, in this moment. Next time something makes you smile, really notice your response and savour that smile, in the moment, and for your memory.
