Bitesized options for brightening up your hump day

“In our times, it is radical to choose to sit still and be silent, to resist an identity of busyness, ceaseless motion, and noise, and to reclaim our sanity and humanity by coming home to ourselves."
- Sumi Loundon Kim

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself to beauty! As I settle back into London life (still minus most of my belongings), I decided not to wait any longer to surround myself with plants - hopefully they fit once everything arrives. This gorgeous orchid spoke to me, reminding me of the many I used to see growing outdoors in Indonesia. I love the delicate yet strong petals, with the capillary pattern suggesting nourishment. And the bright pink: feminine and fierce. Luckily orchids are pet-safe. If you need a guide to toxic/non-toxic plants, the ASPCA has an extensive searchable list.
Listen
Have you been going round in circles trying to figure out a problem? In You can't think yourself out of a mindset issue... explains why using your logical brain to solve mindset challenges doesn’t work. Instead, try tuning into your body’s intuition and then taking action.

If you need something to make you smile today, sit back and enjoy Tom Thum: The orchestra in my mouth | TED. It’s 10 minutes of pure entertainment as beatboxer Tom humorously demonstrates the ingenuity of the human voice. Just joyful!

In Saturday’s post, I wrote about finding rejuvenation through nourishment - not just through nutrition but also by feeding your mind and soul. You can read the full post here:
Some questions you could reflect on:
Where do you most need nourishment, right now: for body, mind or soul?
When did you last do something purely for the fun or joy of it?
How can you make more space for connection in your life?
What steps could you take today to nourish yourself physically, emotionally, and/or mentally?
What simple sensory pleasures salve your soul? What makes you smile?
Do
Notice the life surrounding you. When we’re rushing from A to B, or bustling busily through tasks, it can be easy to ignore natural life all around us. When did you last pause to appreciate it? Perhaps blossoms have appeared on a plant or tree you pass every day. Maybe a ladybird or butterfly has alighted on your windowsill, sunbathing. Or a little sparrow is hopping along, pecking for sustenance. Savour these moments.
