I was recently reminded by one of my “mindfulness in daily life” practices of how important it is to seek out the pleasant and savour it; especially little things around us that bring comfort and joy, but which often escape our attention when we become accustomed to them. Like my vibrant West African fabric lampshades. My collection was an investment I wasn’t sure I could afford at the time, but each one brings invaluable beauty and sunshine to my home - as long as I remember to notice them.

My Weekend Read was late again - published on Monday (I’m sure it was still the weekend somewhere..?) I wrote about needing rejuvenation, and deciding to do a pre-summer reset for body, mind and soul over four weeks: starting with rest, comfort and movement. You can read the full post here:
Join me for June Rejuvenation
Are you searching for the spring in your step you thought would come along with the sunshine? Or maybe your pep is pooped?
Some questions you could reflect on:
How do your body, mind and soul tell you when you need rest, comfort or movement? Are you listening to them?
What does comfort mean to you?
When did you last truly rest? What’s stopping you from resting more?
What sort of movement makes your body feel good? How?
If you had an unexpected hour free tomorrow, how would you like to spend it?
Do
Jump outside your comfort zone. Back in March, I joined Amy I Beeson 🐝’s wonderful International Women’s Day Yoga and Writing Workshop. Knowing I’d be on leave this week, I jumped at the chance (a month ago) to sign up for her June Writers’ Circle. Then life got busy and my unread emails piled up - including the circle instructions. Cue last-minute panic when I realised that I needed to write and share a piece with fellow participants. But I’ve never written memoir!! Or fiction!! I’m a total newbie!!! Aaaaargh!!! But you know what? I had a great time, with a warm welcoming circle of women who gave their time generously and such kind and considered feedback. I’m so glad I pushed past my discomfort and tried something new, it was a valuable learning experience in more ways than one.
