How was your weekend? I spent mine split between very long train journeys (5 hours a day, mostly standing in crowds) and being a tourist in York.
While the transport headaches were an unplanned pain (the dreaded weekend engineering works on the train line), it was so nice to have a change of scenery and some cultural nourishment.
I learned all about York’s history at the Jorvik Viking Centre and York’s Chocolate Story (chocolate manufacturing at one point employed a third of York’s workers!) and I enjoyed innovative installations at York Art Gallery.

This week’s prompt is:
How could I be kinder to my body?
Oh this one sure hits home for me.
When I’m too stressed, I treat my body badly - “fuelling” it with convenient junk food. Burning the candle at both ends to get work done, meaning little sleep or exercise. And with that of course comes guilt!
And sometimes I overdo it, pushing through injuries or ignoring pain and illness, hoping to wait it out rather than have to try to get a GP appointment.
But on my better days, I notice. I listen to my body and respond with kindness, giving it what it needs. It’s carried me all these years and is worthy of my love.
It’s my birthday tomorrow which seems the perfect prompt for a reset. A fresh year ahead of body love: Tasty, nutritious, home-cooked meals. Plenty of sleep, rest when I need it, and exercise I love. And tomorrow, a fantastic deep tissue massage…after all, I’m worth it!
