Mindful March Part 1: Attention Challenge
Share

Hi everyone!

As signs of spring start to appear and daylight lasts a little longer every day, I’m getting out and about more. Maybe you are too?

But although my energy levels are increasing, I want to remain mindful rather than dashing from A to B without thinking or noticing: whether that’s paying attention to my feelings, my bodily sensations, or my surroundings.

So I thought this month’s theme should be Mindful March.

More mindfulness = more bonuses

As I reinvigorate my mindfulness practice this spring, I’d like to support you in two ways:

  • Throughout the whole of March I’ll be doing an Attention Challenge (details below). I hope you’ll join me!

  • Later this month (technology permitting), I’ll share some mini meditations: short guided practices for you to listen to.

To start us off, we have the Attention Challenge.

This is a practice to help you be mindful of your surroundings, whether it’s your neighbourhood, a travel destination, or your home or workplace.

It’s your permission slip to slow down, breath and notice.

The attention challenge calendar provides a daily prompt, as a suggestion for one particular thing to notice and pay attention to - helping your mind to focus as you build your practice.

  • This might be a colour, a shape, an item.

  • If you find it helpful for your focus, you might want to take photos or make sketches. Sharing them on Substack can also help you build the daily habit.

I’m here in your corner 📣

Like in previous months, I’ll be doing the work alongside you, following the daily prompts, sharing my progress on Notes and encouraging you to join in.

I’d love it if you’d share your experience: a few words, a photo, maybe even a sketch. Reply to my Note or tag me (@hollybailie) in one of yours. 📸

Don’t forget that as a paid subscriber, you can also start a chat thread if you prefer to share there.
